Every year on World Sight Day, L’OCCITANE sells a special soap to help raise funds to support the fight against avoidable blindness in developing countries.
Indeed, almost 285 million people around the world are blind or visually impaired, even though 80% of blindness is avoidable!
In 2014, our solidarity soap raised almost 140 000 €
The funds will be used by the L'OCCITANE Foundation for its program Union for Vision.
The goal of the program: bring better access to quality eye care services in developing countries and thus reduce blindness in the isolated regions.
In Burkina Faso for example, the L’OCCITANE Foundation offers the possibility to 4 Burkinabe doctors to take a 4-year training in ophthalmology in Mali.
With an annual budget of €1,000,000, the L'OCCITANE Foundation supports projects in three fields of actions: Fight against avoidable blindness, Women's leadership and Preservation of natural heritage. It finances around 15 projects every year.
This symbolic soap is wrapped in a pretty, printed box, decorated with flowers and honeycomb cells drawn by Olivier Baussan. 100%* of the profits donated to help save sight.** *Or the equivalent in eye care services. **Retail price in stores minus taxes, transport and production costs. Non-food cosmetic products. The product has been sold out. Thank you for joining our charity action!
